Seller's comments and description: this car is in excellent overall condition. The car has benefited from a very nice restoration on a great original car. This healey runs and drives excellent. It has great compression across all 6 cylinders (130 to 135 psi) and great oil pressure (40 pounds when warm at idle). The car does go through the gears perfectly with no noises in any of the gears and the overdrive works nicely and the clutch feels great. Furthermore, the overall feel driving the car is very tight and solid. Certainly, this is one of the nicer and more pleasant healeys to drive. Some of the more recent work includes a new stainless steel exhaust system. Also this car has new 60 spoke chrome wire wheels to go with the newer correct hex knock offs. In addition, the carburetors have been fully rebuilt and set up. This healey has a new boot cover and full tonneau cover with the original tonneau support bar. The vehicle has been recently serviced and everything is working as it should. There are healeys that have achieved record prices in this color, but they were not originally this color or the correct color for that year. In addition, this is an original california car, which makes it even more collectible. Also, very desirable is the late production of this 1967 austin healey, as that was the last year for these great cars. This is a gorgeous example that can be taken to a shows or driven anywhere to provide for miles of enjoyment. This austin healey is truly a great investment car.

Netoptions:description:1965 austin healey bj8 mkiii serial # hbj8l31953 healey ice blue metallic with ivory coves and a blue interior odometer: 26,397 miles for the past fifty-two years this bj8 has resided within a twenty-five mile radius of the dealership that sold the car new, british motors of oakland, california. The car is in above average, driver quality condition with no signs of accident repair work. Extensive service records remain with the car going back to the late 1970’s. The previous owner kept the car for twenty-five years in foster city, california. The original healey ice blue metallic paint is still visible under the dash and inside the engine bay. In 1980, an appraisal by british motors described the car as being in “very good original condition.” upon my purchase in august of 2008 i set about doing a sympathetic restoration totaling ~$60,000, and consisting of paint, upholstery, and mechanical work. The paint process was documented with photos showing the doors, fenders, and trim all being removed at a cost of $12,000 in march of 2009. The absolute best part about the paintwork is the accuracy of the healey ice blue color. The metal flake is extremely fine and thus not too bright, and very consistent with metallics of the 1960’s. Additionally the ivory coves are the correct shade of warm, bone white. Inside, the front and rear seats were reupholstered in the correct materials and pattern. A new wood dash was installed, along with new carpet, kick panels, door seals, and scuff plates. The convertible top and tonneau were redone in the correct everflex vinyl. Mechanically, all systems have been gone through and the car is in great running order. Listed below is an abbreviated list of the cosmetic and mechanical work performed since my purchase totaling $49,527. The compression of the engine is excellent. The motor and gearbox was rebuilt by a previous owner, with the repair order indicating new pistons, main bearings, rod bearings, timing chain, rod bushings, valve guides (intake & exhaust), and tensioner. At this time the clutch plate, disc, bearings, master, and slave were also done. Within the last 300 miles, as set of new 72 spoke motor wheel service uk wheels and tires were fitted along with a complete stainless steel exhaust system. Upon deciding to sell the car i had the car freshly serviced this month. The car was then driven on a ~170 mile northern california british car club event and further sorted. The car is currently in superb mechanical condition and ready to be driven and enjoyed by the next owner. Netoptions:description:1967 bj8 purchased from a local owner for a personal project. We have too many shop projects going for personal projects, and i need the storage space for customer cars. We have rebuilt the engine and it has about 250 miles on it so far. The gearbox functioned well, so i left it alone. In retrospect, i should have pulled it and re-sealed it, but i thought i would do that at a later time. Has good working 4 speed gearbox with working overdrive. At the time of the engine rebuild, we also installed a new clutch assembly on a freshly turned flywheel. Starter and generator were also rebuilt. New high efficiency radiator core su carbs rebuilt steering box re-sealed brake system rebuilt new windshield new convertible top new door seals and convertible top seals new dash top dash wood restored heater box rebuilt and all hoses replaced new tires fuel system flushed and tank cleaned all lights and systems function as they should. This is the last year for the healey. Roll up windows, not side curtains. Has a full tonneau cover as well. Even though the paint is faded, it still gets looks wherever i go. The interior, while older, is still in presentable condition. No major holes or damage. All the gauges work as they should. Looking around the car, all the panels are in good condition with no evidence of major accident damage. I am sure that it has had its share of nicks and bruises, but i do not see any evidence of major crash damage. The trunk rails and interior metal do look to be correct and undamaged. Engine compartment frame rails are straight as well. Looks like the left dog leg is starting to blister. The right dogleg may have been "curbed" as it is slightly folded under (new left and right dog legs are included). The valence portion of the front apron looks to have been fixed at some point as i can see hammer marks on the back side of the valence. The rear valence looks to be in excellent condition. When the fuel tank was out, the trunk floor cleaned coated with por-15 as it had surface rust. There are numerous other small things done to the car as well that i can not remember off the top of my head.

It was painted once in the early 60’s. It appears the color was changed from black with red coves to the current orange/white color combination (why would someone change to those colors??). The current owner bought the car in 1964. It started out in arizona, was purchased by the current owner’s brother in the early 60’s and then she bought it in 1964 from him. It was driven very sparingly for a couple years until parked in a garage in 1966. It sat there until a few months ago when it was brought to layland motors to get road-worthy in order to sell it.

This is a rust free car, the undercarriage is exceptional! Frame and outriggers are in excellent condition which is important because these cars are notorious for issues in these areas. The engine, gear box and overdrive were restored 5,000 miles ago. Same for all of the electrical components. This healey drives incredibly smooth with no issues, transmission feels great and brakes stop the car just as they should! Emergency brake also works perfectly. Chrome all around the car is like new! Very nice tan leather interior, like new chrome wire wheels, new convertible top, like new windscreen, tonneau cover, stainless steel exhaust, etc etc list goes on and on.

The car was purchased a couple of years ago from los angeles, ca. When the car was purchased it was in running and driving condition. I believe this is an original california vehicle. The last 2 years the car has begun its process for complete restoration. The car has a very healthy body with all original body pieces except trunk floor panel and both side rocker panels which have been replaced during the process of restoration. The car's body has been sand blasted after it has been primed and has been professionally painted and polished. The car's engine and transmission have been restored by an engine specialist. The engine has standard piston size and standard main bearing size which have been replaced and were tried to keep as original as possible. I do not have a certificate for this car, i don't know if this is a matching number engine, see photo for engine tag. The engine head has been rebuilt. All seals and gaskets have been replaced, including the water pump, etc. As for the transmission, it had all its gaskets and seals replaced. The car’s mechanical has been completely rebuilt: all bushings, seals, gaskets, complete new brake system, etc. The car has a new fuel tank, new fuel pump, new wiring, new windshield, new chrome wire wheels and tires, completely new interior and new top vinyl. The side cartons are in used condition and needs restoration which are included in the trunk (see photos). Also included are new seat belts which need to be installed.
