it is a late 1972 (Oct) productionmaking it an actual 1973. Very nice original 1973 Datsun 240z Ready forrestoration or daily driver with a little tuning. I acquired this z about 5years ago from the central California valley. It had been sitting for 6 years. After sitting in my garage for the past 5 years I finally started tinkering withit. New gas, changed the oil, adjusted valves, new starter, ignition switch,clutch master and slave cylinder. Started right up drove it around the block,transmission seemed fine as are brakes but it will need some carburetor work andfine tuning to be road worthy, and new tires etc. They hold air but are 10 years old. Compression check ranged from 150 to 160 on all cylinders It is anumbers matching engine. It has had a white repaint at some time and it is anoriginal white car. Upholstery is clean but not original. All body panels andglass appear to be original and firewall vin matches strut tower and dash vinand as far as I can tell it has never been in an accident and no bondo present. Things that need attention are; Carbs, they appear to be the original smogequipped flat top hitachis which I heard are pretty hard to tune properly so Ihaven't attempted yet. Headlights don't work (not sure why, fuses areok) Rust in rear quarter panels in front of rear wheels and rear hatch panel ( iwill include new patch panels as in pictures) Also a little surface rust and alittle rust in floorboards and A pillars as shown in pics.

This is a two owner car that has beenoff the road for 3 decades! Very nice but not "show quality". Minor ding on passengerdoor above the handle that can easily be removed by paintless dent guy. All newwindow seals and door seals (some old glue residue is present in a few pics buti'll work on getting it fully removed before car is picked up). When ifound the car, it had been stored in a garage untouched for nearly 30 yearsafter the second owner lost interest in it. I bought it and brought it back tolife. What i loved about the car was its rare original color, and how solid itwas. Being stored inside, untouched, in a dry climate for 30+ certainly savedthis beauty! I believe it was always a garaged car. Solid original frame andfloors. Factory undercoating still in place. Very nice original it's age! Speaker holes cut in door panels (speakers and radioare gone). Car has only 70k original miles! I converted to brandnew weber carbs for better performance, but original su carbs will be includedalong with air cleaner. Fires up withfirst blip of key. A few extra parts included as well. This has anexcellent running, super quiet stock engine. Tranny shifts very well. Brakes area little soft. I've bled them but the rear drums aren't adjusting. Carneeds very little to be perfect.

I bought it in california from the original owners who lived out west in southern california and in iowa, so no rust (see pics.) only 38,950 original miles since new. Check the vehicle history to confirm. Paint is really nice, driven on weekends only. Has a new ansa exhaust, which i spent months looking for, and is correct for 1981. It is equipped with t-tops, is black with gold exterior trim and wheels as well as the tan leather interior, which is in good shape. Engine and transmission work really well, all original except for battery, tires and starter. It is a very enjoyable car and gives me plenty of smiles, and hopefully it will find the right person to continue the datsun 280zx turbo legacy. Title in my name, registered as historical vehicle. It had a blown head gasket so the reason for sitting. I had the head re-done, sleeved 1 cylinder and had all new pistons and rings installed. I also put in a new master cylinder, brake pads and wheel cylinder and clutch... Also new felt for window track... Other than that its all there... Its has a little rust over both rear fenders wells, not major... The bottom is solid, rare for this car... Has og exhaust, muffler, its og even the paint. The interior looks like it was installed yesterday. I mean perfect!!!. I spent 3500. 00 to repair engine, and $400. 00 for a detail job.

The car was sold new by robinson motors, in gadsden, alabama on december 22nd, 1971 to its original owner, original warranty booklet and warranty card is in good condition, and confirms that this is a matching number car, with the original e88 head. The car even comes with both numbered original keys, and both keys match the key numbers listed in the warranty booklet. Mileage on the odometer reads 95351, it is unknown if this is the actual mileage, we just changed shocks on the car, and the old shocks seems to be the original ones from 1971, so the mileage might be actual, but i cannot guarantee it. The car is in excellent condition, with only small spots of surface rust in spare tire well and under battery. The original floor pans had some very small holes, we grinded the floor pans down to bare metal, and welded in new metal in a couple of places. After repairing the floor pans, the whole area was treated and painted with por-15 rust inhibitor, and then sprayed with bed-liner. Frame rails are in excellent rust free condition, so is trunk area. I did have to replace the rear quarter front section on both driver and passenger sides (the lower section just in front of the rear wheels); there was a little bit of rust there, when the car was sanded down for paint, we could see that area had previous repair done. The car has the dealer installed air condition system. Smog pump and other emission related items on the car have been removed. Car has the original tool kit, jack and tire stops. Original wheels are mounted with uniroyal tires, 185/75-14 in very good shape, the original hub caps are still mounted on the wheels. This car was delivered in blue metallic (paint code 115) with a white interior. The interior was redone by owner in 2005, and the exterior of the car was just repainted (september 2015) in the original color. There is a crack in the original dash, i have selected not to cover this up, and would rather leave it up to the new owner to decide what to do with this. Please be aware that pictures was taken before new shocks was installed, after the installation of the new shocks the rear end of the car sits higher than pictures shows. The car starts and runs fine; there are no grinding noises while changing gears, motor just received a general tune-up, oil/filter, air filter, and new plugs and wires. Clutch and brakes are in excellent condition, the car steers and brakes in a straight line, and there is no apparent slack in the front or rear suspension and steering components. New battery and battery tray/hold down (original nissan parts) was just installed. Original radio works fine. Air Conditioning
